8th National Information Day 2014 Celebrated in 20 Districts.

8th National Information Day on August 19, 2014 has been celebrated in different 20 districts of Nepal by organizing different programs. National Information Day is being celebrated in Nepal on the day of enforcement of Right to Information Act 2007 for the first time in Nepal on Bhadra 3, 2064.

 

The Strategic Partner CSOs of the Project "SANCHAR" and other potential partner CSOs of CCRI situated at different parts of the Country involved and conducted several programs. The names of Strategic Partners are namely Integrated Development Forum, Jhapa, Yuwa Sarokar Abhiyan, Bara, Vijay Development Resource Center-Nepal (VDRC), Nawalparasi, Humanitarian Organization for People and Democracy (HOPE) Nepal, Bhaktapur, Freedom Forum, Kathmandu, Information and Human Rights Research Centre (IHRC) Banke, Karnali Self-Help Development Forum-Nepal (KSDF), Kalikot, and Far -West Media Development Centre (FMDC), Dhangadhi.

 

Other Potential Partners of CCRI selected for this purpose were namely RTI Foundation, Morang, Creative Group of Nepal, Rautahat, MASWES, Udaypur, Social Inclusion Initiatives, Udaypur, Right Forum Nepal, Jajarkot, Youth Forum Nepal, Chitwan, Freedom Forum, Dailekh, Sewa Sanchar, Gulmi, RTI Network, Jumla, RTI Network, Tanahun, Human Development Forum, Kaski, Gramin Sewa Samaj, Ramechhap, Deurali Society, Terathum and RTI Network, Kapilbastu.

 

Basically, interaction programs among the major stakeholders of RTI i.e. Chief District Officers, Local Development Officers, District Police Chiefs, Secretary of Municipalities & Village Development Committees, Journalists, Students, CSO workers, students were held with an aim to urge every individual to comply with the specified rights and obligations stated under RTI Act 2007. The outcomes of the interaction programs could be held from the facts that the chiefs of the public agencies especially the Chief District Officers committed to strictly follow the minimum obligations under RTI Act 2007 immediately, facilitate the information seeking and receiving process and create an RTI enabling environment in the district.
