CCRI Holds the Meeting of the Steering Committee for the Project “SANCHAR”.

The first meeting of the Steering Committee of the Project "SANCHAR: Support for Accountable National Institutions for Citizen’s Access to RTI" took place on 5th August, 2014 (Tuesday) in Kathmandu. The Project Steering Committee was formed in order to formulate plans of action to effectively implement the project activities in order to accomplish the project outcomes. The Meeting was expected to seek from its members the ideas and suggestions involving:


  1. Finalizing strategic plan for implementing the Project effectively;
  2. Discussing on Role of Partners to implement the Project Activities;
  3. Seeking suggestions/ideas for project launching and Orientation Event for the Partners; and
  4. Seeking suggestions for Piloting RTI Centre in Banke District.

The attendees of the Meeting was comprised up of Mr. Taranath Dahal, President of CCRI, Mr. Goulochan Sainju, Under-Secretary of the National Information Commission, Mr. Tanka Aryal, Executive-Director of CCRI, Mr. Balaram Dahal, Information Officer of CCRI, Mr. Bishwajeet Tiwari, President of Information and Human Rights Centre (IHRC), Banke, Mr. Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, President of Karnali Self-Help Development Forum (KSDF) Nepal, Kalikot and Mr. Khila Nath Sapkota of Humanitarian Organization for Peace and Ecology (HOPE) Nepal.


The Meeting decided on the strategies involving the accomplishment of project activities within stipulated timeline adopting learning and sharing techniques with proper documentation. CCRI has developed an online platform where the strategic partners shall share the achievements/experiences out of project activities to be shared among the stakeholders and the public at-large under this technique.


Similarly, the Committee also decided to set common plan-of-action while carrying out project activities oriented towards generating measurable impacts and also harmonize with the National Information Commission in this process.


Similarly, the Committee on the agenda of discussing on the role of partner organization to implement project activities decided to extend its collaboration with the public institutions with similar interests in their respective area/expertise.


The Committee also agreed to inform the National Information Commission the plan-of-action of the project activities in order to enhance their effectiveness.


Regarding the activities involving the Project Launch and Orientation Event for the Partners, the date and invitees for both the events were decided.


Apart from this, the Piloting of RTI Centre in the District of Banke as it is taking place under the current project; suggestions were sought for its effectiveness. The Committee also suggested it to remain it a complimentary to the RTI Centre, Kathmandu particularly focused at facilitating in RTI related affairs in the District of Banke.
